Who We Are

The “Common Future” Student-Managed Endowment Fund is the first of its kind in Israel, operating successfully thanks to the close relationship between the management of the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) Herzliya, the Student Union of the IDC and their two partners – the I.B.I Investment House and the financial internet site Bizportal.

Our Goal

The earnings from the fund’s investments are fully directed towards scholarships for students from low socio-economic backgrounds, with leadership qualities and potential, who have proven to be great achievers, both in their undergraduate studies as well as in their contribution to society. In this respect, it is important to acknowledge that approximately 15% of the students studying at the IDC receive a wide variety of socio-economic based scholarships.

Who We Owe Thanks To

The income of the Fund relies entirely on contributions received from the IDC students, alumni and faculty members, as well as from private individuals and organizations, who believe in the Fund’s Investment Policy and Objectives and in the vision of Prof. Uriel Reichman, founder and president of the IDC.

Our Management & Method of Operation

The Fund is managed by a selected group of outstanding Economics and Business Management students who specialize in finance, throughout their final year of studies at the IDC’s Arison School of Business.

The investments and related tasks are carried out by the students, in the frame of an annual course, whilst operating strictly in accordance with the Fund Policy, under the close academic supervision and guidance of Professors of finance from the IDC faculty, and in firm partnership with leading investment consultants and analysts from the IBI Investment House.

The students also receive “hands-on” experience with cutting-edge, investment related software, provided by the financial internet site, Bizportal, a part of the Trendline Group, assisting them in performing technical analysis and evaluations of securities and financial instruments.

The Founders

The project was initiated by Prof. Oded Sarig, Commissioner of Capital Markets, Insurance and Savings and former Dean of the IDC’s Arison School of Business, and Adv. Gilad Tuffias, an IDC graduate, and when launched in October 2007, the IDC became the first Israeli academic institute, which provides students studying for their bachelor’s degree in Business Management, with practical experience in managing investment portfolios.
